How every generation says looking good
Telling someone they look good can mean praising the outfit, the confidence, or the whole style. Younger speakers shorten outfit to fit or call the look drip, while fresh and threads come from earlier slang.

Saying "looking good" across the ages
- Gen Alphano word of its own
Gen Alpha uses the same words as Gen Z here. A fit is the outfit, and a fit check is a post or video that shows it off for people to rate.
“Rate the fit before I post it.”
- Gen Zdrip
Drip means an extremely fashionable look, often with a hint of confidence, money, or sex appeal. It went mainstream through 2018 hip-hop, and Dictionary.com notes that its exact origin is disputed.
“You came through with serious drip tonight.”
- Millennialswag
Swag means self-confidence and personal style shown through appearance and demeanor, so it praises how someone carries the outfit as much as the clothes.
“That jacket has so much swag.”
- Gen Xfresh
Fresh is slang for appealing or great, and said about clothes it means the outfit looks sharp. It is relaxed praise, a nod more than a rave.
“Those are some fresh kicks.”
- Boomerthreads
Threads is a slang word for clothes, so it names the outfit more than it rates the style. Saying nice threads turns it into a compliment.
“Those are some nice threads.”
What they all have in common
All five point to clothes that look good, but each puts the weight somewhere different: fit names the outfit, drip praises the impact, swag adds confidence, fresh signals style, and threads simply labels the clothes.
